Which one moves you?

1

Thought and emotion

This line of research aims to study the processes through which thoughts are generated and how they relate to emotions.
It includes research on the possible emergence of new basic emotions, the analysis of thought and emotion in social interaction contexts, and the study of the mechanisms through which thoughts arise in the human mind. Through different methodological approaches—including electroencephalography, fNIRS, eye-tracking, and physiological measures—we aim to shed light on these processes that determine why we are the way we are and why we do what we do.

2

Pressure, stress and fear

This line of research focuses on the study of the psychological and neurophysiological mechanisms involved in human responses to stress, pressure, and fear. It includes research on fear learning and conditioning, the influence of hormonal states on its acquisition and extinction, and the impact of interpersonal criticism on health and well-being, among other areas. The aim is to identify and characterize the processes underlying these responses in order to improve their experimental measurement and contribute to the development of effective tools to prevent stress from becoming a way of life.

3

Consciousness

This line of research addresses different aspects of human consciousness from an experimental perspective. It includes studies on perception and subjective experience, such as the perception of qualia associated with color; cognitive vision processes, examining the effects of brief sensory deprivation on visual experience; and the investigation of phenomena such as extrasensory experiences or the role of psychological states like gratitude in well-being. Analyzing these phenomena through experimental methods and neurophysiological tools will help expand scientific knowledge of the processes underlying conscious experience.

FAQS

Do you have doubts? Doubt is human.

Why is it not remunerated?

INAB is based on an unpaid collaborative model based on a sense of purpose that understands that the benefits of this research are for all of humanity, including you. The institute uses all its available resources to meet the unavoidable costs of scientific research and entrusts part of its model to genuine and collective collaboration in order to carry out research for the common good.

What’s in it for me?

By participating in our studies, you become an active part of pioneering research that is redefining our understanding of the human being. You contribute to the advancement of neuroscience, helping to develop new knowledge that can have a global impact. In addition, you will live a unique experience in our boutique Lab.

What will the experience be like?

For all of us it is important to take care of people, as well as to investigate them, so you will be accompanied at all times by our team of researchers and support people from INAB. An investigation lasts approximately 2.5 hours and is carried out in our Lab Boutique in Barcelona.

Can it have side effects?

In our Lab Boutique in Barcelona, we use state-of-the-art equipment that is non-invasive and has no side effects. These devices are based on precise measurements of the electrical responses of neurons as well as oxygen consumption in the brain. In this way, we can obtain detailed data on neuronal activity without compromising the well-being of participants. Our approach is safe, effective and respectful of the integrity of each individual.

Our collaborators

At INAB, we are open to collaborations with companies and institutions that share our purpose and passion for science. If you are interested in collaborating with us, please contact us via email: info@inablab.org.
